This custom pneumatic air cylinder is a 3 stage 3.375" bore cylinder with a 0.375" stroke designed specifically for my CNC mill. Capable of exerting 2700lbs of force with a 100psi shop air supply, this cylinder is used as a power drawbar to efficiently eject and load new tools into the spindle.

 

With its tight tolerances to eliminate any chance of leaking, this project was especially fun and challenging. Each part was type 2 clear anodized to mitigate galling between the piston and cylinder should any contact be made during its stroke.
